The Virginia Microscope Training Center
The Virginia Microscope Training Center was established in 1999 in response to a request from Global Surgical Corporation and their representative, Nick Forster, to have a training facility that would be closer to the major metropolitan areas on the east coast.
After taking the training course offered at the Newport Coast Orofacial Institute, I decided to make a training course that incorporated the elements established by Dr. Rick Schmidt and Dr. Martin Boudro and add items that I thought were essential in getting doctors to utilize their surgical microscopes for nearly 100% of their procedures. This included the deliberate use of mannequins mounted to regular dental chairs in a normal operatory and utilizing regular surgical microscopes outfitted as they need to be for ideal restorative / periodontal / endodontic use. This is different than other centers that use laboratory settings and limited arm motion of the laboratory microscopes for training. The incorporation of regular clinical operatories allow the attendees to gain the knowledge necessary to use their microscope in all four quadrants of the mouth the following Monday morning.
The atmosphere is casual, but the learning is intense! Be prepared to be tired and stimulated at the end of each day of the training session.
